I was spending time with God one night and the desire to start a blog came over me right there in my room at my mom’s house in St. Paul, MN. So I did… and that night started my first post which was June 9, 2015 at 9:10pm. I had just finished my sophomore year of college, and I was two feet deep into the radical journey God was beginning to take me on since I gave my life to Him in the beginning of March 2015. Despite having pondered the idea of starting a blog when I was a sophomore in high school, I soon let that idea go and actually began to profess that I hated writing in the years to come. It wasn’t my strongest subject in school, but God had other plans for the writing gift He put in me!
In June 2015, the blog started with the intention of inspiring people about the things I found interesting on a daily basis in my walk with God. God would literally inspire me to write about things, circumstances and people I would encounter in my life from a Christian/Kingdom view. I called it Kingdom Sights, and that’s where it began! About six months later, the Lord bought my husband into my life and that’s where He began to give this writing purpose, and a visible vision.
My husband, on our first date showed me his website that he had been operating for a little over a year at the time. A photography and writing website that showcases people of color doing great things, with a mission to impact the narrative about people of color in the media. Uncommon Duq is the name, turning what has been deemed as an uncommon duck or ugly duckling into a beautiful masterpiece through writing, storytelling, and images. Influencing what we think when we think of beauty, people of color, and more. Shortly after we started courting the Lord revealed to me in a dream that the work He started in me would become the female version of the work Reggie was doing, to reach the woman population. The woman population as in the Bride of Christ… as in the Church. In prayer He gave me the female counterpart name of Uncommon Grace!
Uncommon Grace is a creative project where God has given me the mission to inspire women to look for and see the Kingdom in their everyday lives! This is a narrative about the Kingdom of God through writing, storytelling, and authentic imagery. I talk about my life, and I talk about the testimonies happening in other’s lives. I want to show how God is moving, and what that can look like that could be different than what we may be used to. Take this journey with me in discovering what the Kingdom of God is all about!
My name is Sydnie Evans, and I want to hear your story and your testimonies, share them with me at firstname.lastname@example.org or on my contact page here! Thanks for stopping by, and I hope to see you subscribe!
