“Your adornment must not be merely external—braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God. For in this way in former times the holy women also, who hoped in God, used to adorn themselves, being submissive to their own husbands; just as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him Lord, and you have become her children if you do what is right without being frightened by any fear. 1 Peter 3:3-6 NASB
If you’re anything like me, you might struggle sometimes with picking out or finding clothing that is what you know you want to wear. As a daughter of God, and as I grow in my relationship with Christ the less I want to appear like the world in spirit. Unfortunately there are a lot of clothing items out there that accentuate certain parts of our body that even if you are saved it can give the wrong impression or image of yourself. We can end up appearing like the world even if we aren’t trying to.
In 1 Peter 3:3-6, Peter mentions how it is precious to God how we have our heart arrayed before Him. A gentle and quiet Spirit is precious to God. I know that as I’ve grown, my eyesight has progressively turned less toward what I have on, how my makeup and hair looks and more toward wanting to be pleasing to my Father. That first starts with the heart.
This post today is to share some modest clothing boutiques and stores I recently found through various Google searches and other bloggers (namely Young Wive’s Guide). I haven’t tried them yet, but I thought this could help some of you out there looking for some alternative options, like me. Although everything isn’t about external appearance, I know I still want to look cute while developing my modest attire!
