I was comforted yesterday when the Holy Spirit brought to my mind this scripture:
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Ephesians 6:12 NASB1995
There are times when we want to look at situations going on in our lives and get mad at the situation, circumstance, or “problem.” I was tempted to take my focus off of God’s word yesterday and focus on what I could see in the natural. If I did that my mood would have went down hill, my emotions would have went downhill, and then the rest of my day would have been affected shortly after that.
But thankfully for every temptation God provides a way of escape (1 Corinthians 10:13). And sometimes that way of escape can be through the Holy Spirit whispering to you a scripture, or it can be through a literal door opening that says “escape” above it. Don’t limit God and His ability to make clear before you the straight and narrow path He wants you to walk on (Matthew 7:14).
Whether it’s resisting the temptation to get in your flesh about something or standing strong in the midst of a pandemic, God has provided a way of escape for you. We just need to tune into His voice.
Have courage, because Christ has overcome the world (John 16:33)! Nothing can hold you back!
