“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16
Yesterday it occurred to me just how much life and light is surrounding my life. At this point I’m not even looking at my own personal life, but at the all the life going on around me in other peoples’ lives.
New babies, happy marriages, home improvements, new houses, new jobs, unity in families, relationships growing healthily, birthdays, great community, successful businesses, and more.
There’s so much joy, life and light to see but sometimes we can focus so much on that one speck of darkness in our lives. We get so focused on that one thing that we wish could be going a lot better that we don’t even notice the tremendous light God is shining through on our lives. We don’t even notice the coworker whose marriage is really happy. We don’t even notice the friend who just got a new car. We don’t even notice all the ways that God is blessing and being God in our lives, when we’ve been praying for people all along.
Don’t let the enemy trick you out of enjoying the blessed life God is giving you. Don’t let those smaller not so ideal areas in your life steal the magnitude of peace and joy that’s already there. Don’t stop praying. Don’t stop being a light, because if you look around you’ll see the work that God is doing. If you have the right perspective you’ll see the light shining so brightly that it’s spreading to others.
